Matrix Group, a leading digital marketing and consulting agency in the Washington, D.C. area specializing in web design, development, AMS, integration, branding, mobile and e-marketing services, recently launched a new and improved appointment scheduler tradeshow application for the Food Marketing Institute (FMI).
As the premier trade organization for food retail, FMI provides industry standard information on food safety, government regulation, and current trends affecting a wide variety of organizations. It also hosts some of the world’s largest conferences that brings together suppliers, sellers, and government officials in the food retail industry.
FMI hosts several conferences that involve retailers and suppliers scheduling private appointments to discuss new products, sales strategies, and market demand. Many years ago, Matrix Group created an appointment scheduling application for FMI to streamline this process. In its original form, it was easy to use, it allowed big organizations to set up meetings between different members, and was a big success.
FMI recently reached out to Matrix Group to take its appointment scheduling app to the next level and accomplish these goals:
Support a large number of appointment requests within a short period of time without having to support a large infrastructure the rest of the year
Have better conflict management within the application
Support multiple teams within companies scheduling multiple appointments with other companies
Give FMI staff better tools to manage the meetings without assistance from Matrix Group
Improve the user interface for the application
FMI chose Matrix Group to re-imagine and enhance its appointment scheduler. We worked hand-in-hand on a tight deadline to implement a scheduler that supports and complements the work of the organization. The new scheduler features:
The ability to set up multiple channels for product lines
The ability to easily differentiate between member organizations and positions
An elegant, easy to use interface that FMI employees have been trained to use
FMI’s new appointment scheduling application was developed using state of the art serverless technologies. The application was written in Vue, hosted in AWS and connects to a Google Firebase database. This new application scales easily, is fast, and gives FMI maximum flexibility for updating communications with members.
“The popularity of our B2B platform has grown rapidly over the last several years and a key component to that platform is the online scheduling tool that Matrix Group had developed for us years ago. With the growth of our program in mind we challenged Matrix Group to reinvent the online tool and they took the challenge head on," said Marc Thomas, Director of Meeting Services & Supplier Relations for the Food Marketing Institute. "Not only is the new scheduling tool more reliable and user-friendly, it looks amazing. Additionally, we have received countless emails and texts from our customers echoing the same sentiments. Thanks Matrix Group for your attention to detail, your time and your awesomeness!”
