Matrix Group, an award-winning web design and development agency in the Washington D.C. area, announces the launch of a new organizational identity and redesigned website for the Washington Empowered Against Violence (WEAVE; formerly Women Empowered Against Violence).
WEAVE was founded in 1996 by four law students attending American University who realized that victims of domestic violence did not have the legal services and counseling needed to help them get out of their situations. WEAVE’s mission is to engage the metropolitan DC community in the elimination of intimate partner abuse and other forms of gender-based violence through empowering, innovative and holistic services.
Today, WEAVE has evolved into one of the most highly respected organizations in the Washington D.C. area for its work on helping victims of domestic violence re-start their lives after being the target of abuse. It has helped thousands of domestic violence victims in the Washington D.C. area re-start their lives after enduring difficult situations through counseling and legal services. WEAVE has also educated and trained thousands of community members, attorneys and professionals on the dynamics of domestic violence, sexual assault, trauma and available legal remedies.
In 2009, the decrease in financial support during the recession nearly forced to close its doors, but thanks to the support of the public, the organization raised the much needed funds to keep the organization running, and continue helping domestic violence victims and their families.
WEAVE has been a long time pro-bono client of Matrix Group. With the organization re-emerging from troubled times stronger than ever, the board and staff believed that its current brand and website did not communicate its mission and its work effectively. To help determine what steps they needed to revamp its current brand and site, it turned to Matrix Group.
MATRIX GROUP SOLUTION:
With WEAVE entering a new phase of its life, Matrix Group helped WEAVE continue its work on helping domestic violence victims, and attracting needed financial support to be successful.
- Created a new identity which evokes support and services provided by WEAVE to its clients with the color of the ring representing "holistic, innovative, empowering" words. WEAVE wants the brand to be associated with.
- Crafted a beautiful design that connects with its audiences. The site, consistent with WEAVE's new brand and warm colors, speaks to individuals seeking help from violent situations. It provides valuable information including important tips, information on organizations and local shelters, etc. It is also bilingual, offering information in English and Spanish.
- Implemented site in WordPress, a popular content management system to allow staff to maintain the website and ensure information was up to date.
- Provided technical support and upgraded functionality to better inform and engage the DC community and supporters.
"WEAVE's new identity was essential for our organization to engage our full community and be as inclusive as possible in our work. Matrix was amazing to work with and so generous with their time, resources and expertise. They knew this was a critical piece of our new journey as Washington Empowered Against Violence and demonstrated their commitment to the project and our work on so many levels. We could not have moved forward without their help and now receive compliment after compliment about our new logo, website and the professional image Matrix helped us to create!,” said Jeni Gamble, Executive Director of WEAVE.
