International Association of Chiefs of Police Wins the 2009 Interactive Media Awards Outstanding Achievement for its Discover Policing Web site

Judging was based on various criteria, including design, usability, innovation in technical features, standards compliance and content. In order to win this award level, the Discover Policing site had to meet strict guidelines in each area - achievement only a small number of entrants in the IMA competition earn each quarter. announces that the Discover Policing Web site for International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP) has been awarded “Outstanding Achievement in the Recruiting Category” by the Interactive Media Awards.  The Discover Policing Web site, is dedicated to encouraging potential law enforcement recruits to pursue an exciting career in policing. The honor recognizes that the project surpassed the basic standards of excellence that comprise the web’s most professional work.

This Web site focuses on IACP’s goal of making it easy for any Web site visitor who is considering a career in law enforcement to find information pertaining to their particular state. The user-focused navigation targets potential law enforcement recruits by their career level, location and whether or not they have military experience. To help IACP reach its recruiting goals, the Web site features a rollover map where site visitors can click on any state for specific information on their individual state.  The clean, easy to use design also incorporates a CMS that lets IACP staff update the site without knowing any html skills, pages that have been optimized for search engine indexing and viral options (send to a friend, social bookmarking and social networking).
