The Catholic Health Association of the United States

The Catholic Health Association (CHA) represents the largest group of nonprofit health care providers in the nation. Yet, like others in the industry, they face challenges like rising health care costs, developments in science and technology and changing healthcare laws.

As the leading organization representing the industry, CHA supports its members through advocacy efforts, and, more importantly, make its library of publications and other resources easier to access online.

Project: Website redesign

The Challenge

portfolio-chaCHA’s previous website was out of date and did not convey the association’s brand. Furthermore, the website, which served as a resource for members, was difficult to navigate and find resource information, resulting in large numbers of phone calls and emails to its member and web services departments. The site had a large number of topics in their taxonomy that overlapped. In addition, the website was not mobile-friendly, making it difficult to read and navigate the website on phones and tablets, which are increasingly how Americans access websites.

The Solution

Matrix Group designed and implemented a website with a more modern look and feel, enhancing the Association’s brand online. We implemented the website in Sitefinity, a content management system, because of its functionality and ability to integrate with Aptify. To help members find publications quickly, we took the "out of the box" Sitefinity search functionality and customized it, turning it into a publication search.

The navigation and taxonomy were revamped as well as the site’s overall information architecture was simplified, saving clicks and time.portfolio-CHA

Impact

portfolio-cha-2The website better reflects the caring and compassion that CHA provides, with warm imagery, colors and typography. Members and other visitors to the site love the bright and welcoming design and how easy it is to find what they need. CHA has also seen an increase in traffic from mobile devices. According to the analytics approximately 15% of traffic comes from smartphones and tablets.

The site has not gone unrecognized by industry awards. The website has received:
