Culture
So what’s it like to work at Matrix Group? Every day is different. Some days are more hectic than others, especially when we’re on deadline, but here are some good things to know:
Chatting it up at Matrix Group’s 9th Anniversay Party.
Bobble heads of our two remote staffers.
Shooting for the corner pocket on our pool table.
Patricia and Mike running a presentation workshop.
Schedule
Our standard workday is 9-6, but you can work with your manager to come up with a schedule that works for you.
Meetings
Every other Tuesday, there is an all-staff meeting, where everyone is updated on the big picture, learns about new accounts, and discusses project launches. Don’t be late, or else you owe everyone bagels.
Each team (every team is named after a movie, btw) meets at least weekly to review works in progress, discuss launch schedules, and get the latest client news.
Finally, each functional group (Developers, Designers, Front-End Developers, Project Managers) meets regularly to coordinate projects between teams, share success and war stories, look at cool stuff, and problem solve together.

Food
Meals are pretty darn important around here. It's a good thing we're located in Crystal City. We're surrounded by restaurants, casual and fancy, American and ethnic. There's a great diner in the building that boasts an awesome gyro and chicken sandwich, not to mention beer and the best homemade milkshakes in town! Lunch is quite the social scene at Matrix Group. Some groups go out to lunch frequently, while others get takeout and eat in the staff lounge.
We get lunch brought in when we have working meetings. This happens when we have clients visiting, or a team is under deadline. And if teams are working late to complete a project, we’ll gladly order dinner from the restaurant of their choice.
Fun
Most Fridays, we celebrate happy hour. You can usually find Matrix Group staff at Crystal City Sports Pub or Jaleo. We celebrate the end of a great week, a successful launch, or just friendships.
If you’re a runner, there is always a race that people are training for. Some of us prefer to walk.
Once a quarter, there’s an official company event. It’s usually baseball or a cookout in the summer, movie night or wine tasting in the fall, the holiday party in the winter, and game night in the spring.
